Still Fighting for Brooklyn Center

I’ve called this community home since 1999. I’ve served on city commissions, listened to residents, and shown up — because I believe Brooklyn Center deserves leaders who are in it for the long haul. I’m running for City Council because this city is worth fighting for.

About Gretchen

I’ve lived in Brooklyn Center since 1999 and have been actively involved in our community for many years.

Good city decisions don’t happen by accident. They happen when leaders listen carefully, understand how the system works, and bring people together to solve problems.

In 2024, I ran for this seat and lost by 12 votes. I’ve thought about that number a lot. It reminded me that local elections are decided by real neighbors and real conversations — and it made me more committed, not less. I kept serving. I kept showing up. And now I’m asking for your vote again.

My superpower is research and relationship building. I enjoy learning how things really work, connecting the right people, and helping groups work through complex issues to find practical solutions. I believe the best decisions happen when people listen carefully, bring people together, and focus on what actually works.

Those are the same skills I bring to my community involvement and public service.

In my free time, family always comes first. I’m an avid reader, I love watching documentaries, and I enjoy staying involved in the community through volunteering. And I’m always on the hunt for the perfect chicken wing.

Looking Ahead

Brooklyn Center is a diverse and vibrant community with tremendous potential.

Over the coming months, I will continue meeting with residents, listening to concerns, and sharing ideas about how we can strengthen our neighborhoods, support local businesses, and ensure our city government works effectively for everyone.

This is a community campaign. I want to hear from you.

My roots run deep in this community. I’ve lived in Brooklyn Center since 1999 with my husband Tony and our two kids. We chose this city for its potential, great location, and strong sense of community.
